The port is beautiful with good amenities, especially the pool. Shopping is pretty good, too. We wanted to take a taxi to Puerto Plata, but the fare was too much. I believe it is only about five miles to town. $30 round trip is too much. No need for taxi to stay with us. Just drop us off and let us find a taxi back to the ship when we're ready.

My husband’s favorite port. My second favorite port. Very beautiful place. I also feel like you need to do an excursion on this port to actually get to see the island.

We are doing the VIP Dolphin swim...anytips and was it worth it? We are a family of 4. Kiddos are 10 & 8. first time cruisers also..did you take a small carrying bag??

Instead of booking an excursion, we paid for a local taxi to take us around the area at a fourth of the cost.

Awesome place. Amber Cove is not built up like Punta Canta. Outback Adventures is an amazing tour. You get really experience the culture. Can not wait to go back!!!

Love our tour guide that provided rum punch and escorted me to the beach with a cabana. It was relaxing. The beach was not as nice as Turks. I probably won’t return here. My sons participated in the waterfall -jump excursion. This is all they have talked about. Sounds so fun!!- I wish someone was there to take pics from the ship. I’m also glad that I didn’t sign up for it, sounds too intense for me. They had a blast tho.
