Ocho Rios, Jamaica Port Reviews

Didn't get very far at port before turning around and heading back to the ship. There's only so much aggressive behavior I am willing to tolerate from locals trying to sell me things. I expect it whenever in port but this was by far the worst I have experienced anywhere.

I was so excited to come to Jamaica. Now Dunn’s River falls was an awesome experience. The views of the falls and the opportunity to climb to the top is definitely a lasting experience. However the rest of our tour was very lack luster and I would have preferred just to come back to the ship after Dunn’s. The shopping area had a lot of vey pushy people trying to get you to buy everything from clothes to Marijuana. So i could have done without all that.

Stopped here a month ago. My advice is to STAY WITH AN EXCURSION. We booked a tour of the Waterfalls, Gardens and bird aviary and had a great time. Afterwards we went straight back. I was prepared to be harassed but we did not encounter any issues because we never left the immediate port area on our own.

It was disheartening seeing so much poverty and having everyone asking you to purchase their items. It was annoying. We took a taxi and explored Ocho Rios outside of the cruise line excursions. I will cruise on this cruiseline again, but I would recommend getting an excursion with the cruiseline for Ocho Rios.

Loved Ocho Rios. Took taxi at port. $25 pp. Driver took us on small tour for photos then to Bamboo Blu Beach Club. This was a beautiful spot for beaching and relaxing. The jerk chicken was fabulous. Snorkeling was close to shore and pretty good. No fee to enter. $10 chairs. Wonderful day trip.

Definitely got a taste of what Jamaica is like. No excursion. You are CONSTANTLY having to decline offers from street sellers. They want to braid your hair, give you a tour, sell you fruit...anything! It gets exhausting after awhile. And every street shop has the exact same things.

I was so surprised about the negative reviews for Ocho Rios. We had a great time there! We purchased a tour locally when we got off the boat and it was just fine. We got to see the areas up on the mountain, visit a local beach, ate lunch and shopped a little. We dropped off a few other riders to Dunns River Falls (we'll do this next time lol). We weren't harrassed in any way by the locals! I definitely want Jamaica as a port on the next cruise we book. 

We did the white river tubing which was excellent and so much fun. Our bus driver there was great, very informative and a lot of fun. The guides at the excursion were wonderful. Bring a little more money if you want to buy the pictures they take and 1 bottle of beer is $5.

Cold water but a great time.. don’t buy the CD

Beautiful water! We did the shark encounter and Dunn river climb. Definitely one of the high lights of our cruise. Our tour guide was amazing and shared some of the cultural elements with us.
