The port area is a maze but thanks to these reviews we knew that going in lol. We booked a third party excursion at Barefoot Beach (The Tipsy Turtle) which included open bar, lunch and a massage on the beach (about $50 each, booked on shoreexcursioner). This beach area was beautiful and the service was fantastic, we had Valente and Daniela as our servers. The food and drinks were really good but the highlight were the massages!

We walked about on our own. No excursion. Found some great shrimp tacos and souvenirs

Got this port subbed in for Havana after politics got involved in my cruise but it was a nice substitute. Took an excursion to Laguna Bacalar. This was a full day excursion but the 90 minute bus ride was worth it. Everyone should see the Lake of 7 Colors at least once in their lives! So vibrant and the water is a perfect temperature for swimming. And as a bonus the mud in Pirate's Channel is a "free" spa treatment.

Absolutely the best excursion we took! We visited the Mayan ruins and enjoyed an authentic lunch, margaritas, and amazing time at a lagoon!

Very poor area. Don't act like the ugly American. You will be asked to buy this and that. Be nice in your refusal as these people are only trying to make a living. Don't pay anymore than $10 for the cigars. Most likely they are not from Cuba.

Took a taxi into Mahahual to Tropicante beach and had an amazing day. Great drinks and a great massage on the beach for $20 for 30 minutes. If you contact them they will even save you a seat for free. They are great and take very good care of their guests.

We went to a beach that was about 15 minutes from the port. It was very beautiful, the food was great, the locals were very aggressive but that’s to be expected. It was REALLY crowded but that’s what happens when you cruise on a holiday.
