Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico Port Q&A

We are cruising to here in January 2024 with Royal. There is a group of ten of us (6 adult and 4 kids). We want to spend the whole day at a beach with the clear water. What free beaches are around that don’t require a paid day pass?

was at the Krazy lobster a few weeks ago and it was awesome. water was clear and clean. would definitely take a taxi instead of renting a golf cart. very inexpensive and convenient. beach and chairs are free. Food is reasonably priced and good. Same with drinks..and the $20 an hour massages are amazing..says the guy that did 2 hours.

I was just in Costa Maya and we rented a golf cart. We went to Crazy Lobster and it has a free beach but there was a lot of debris in the water. I would honestly recommend staying in port and enjoying the 2 pools in the port.

The water quality is lacking. You can go into town and have food and drink at one of the waterside joints or look for a lower priced beach excursion. I'd recommend the latter.

The water was gorgeous when we were there. There are some free beach areas between the lighthouse and the town of Mahahual. Walk through the port and grab a few taxis.
