We did not sign up for an excursion. However, we found a taxi cab that took the eight of us in a three-hour tour of the island. We enjoyed listening to the history, aftermath of the hurricanes and favorite photo spots.

Water was cloudy near the beach but beautiful from up top. The vendors near the beach were pushy trying to sell chairs + umbrellas and prices varies from $10 to $20 for 2 chairs around the same location. Locals on the bus are friendly and can recommend great places to eat. Would not come back for awhile due to the island being so small. One day was enough.

Orient bay was amazing we took a taxi from the cruise port over it was $8 per person one way. The ride was about 30min drive. They have beach chairs for rent 2 chairs and a umbrella for $20. We did parasailing + jetski it was amazing. For parasailing they gave us a option to purchase pictures for $30 usd if you use your credit card it will be charge in Euro. They will send you a digital copy the following night.

Beautiful (and friendly) island! We always hire a driver and head over to the French side for coffee and pastries. And of course, always end up at Maho Beach for some serious plane spotting 😎.

Took a cab to Maho Beach. $16/person round trip. Very organized. Highly recommend this way. Much cheaper than excursion. Sand area is small but water is clear and warm. Planes coming in made for large waves. Had to time it right to get into the water past where waves turned over. Can’t wait to go back. Bar/restaurant was very good and they also have a pool available next to the bar area.

Looked like something out of the movies. Gorgeous. Visited Maho beach and watched planes land then swam at Mullet Bay. Probably our favorite catamaran voyage of our entire cruise. Crew was awesome.

St. Maarten is still rebuilding from the hurricane, so there was still quite a bit of devastation. The people were great though!
