The excursions we wanted to do were sold out. We took the water taxi to the main shopping area of the island. Plenty of shopping & there is a beach there. Say no to people who want you to do a scratch off card to win a prize. It is a timeshare ploy.

Take a taxi to Pinel island (you need at least 3 people for 15 dollar price otherwise 50 bucks for 1 person )they'll drop you at water taxi to yellow beach $7.00 once on Pinel island you have two bars and restaurants on a gorgeous beach overlooking orient beach and mountains across the bay. Best beach and water on island. My go to whenever in St Maartin if I can find 2 other people to share cab.

Took a private 3 hour tour of the island ($40 per person). Sad to see how devastating the hurricanes were last year to this small island of two nations. Primary focus was initially on the Dutch side due to tourism. They are just beginning to clean up the French side.

We went to the closest beach to the St. Maarten ship port. Was fun. You have to rent chairs and umbrellas but not a problem. There was a marching band going up and down the road nearby which was cool. They still have some nearby hurricane damage to clean up but overall a good stop. Lots of bars and restaurants next to the beach and the beach was fairly clean. We had some drinks at one of the bars and had a lot of fun with the bartender and other tourists.
