Went to simpson bay, was ok. We originally signed up for orient bay before cruise, got our excursion ticket and it said beach outing but didn't say where, the person at excursion didn't know what beach we were going to, because we found out due to hurricane, orient beach was closed.

This island is absolutely beautiful. My fiance and I decided we're going to spend a week here next Holiday. The only problem was that we had a 9 year old with us and all the beaches are pretty much clothing-optional. And I mean...clothing optional. The beaches were beautiful and I couldn't get myself out of the ocean. I believe it was Orieon Beach on the French side. The Dutch Side has amazing shopping right near the port.

The most beautiful beach that I have ever seen. We love this place so much that we are planning an extended weekend trip to just St. Maarten..

Sadly, this was the worst experience due to the recovery effort of the October 2017 storm. I understand that this port once was a tropical paradise, however it will take years to recover to its former glory.

Great shopping and beach right at the port. Catch the water taxi for $7 unlimited day and enjoy the many shops along the beach. We rented 2 chairs with umbrella and enjoyed the crystal clear waters.

Took the water taxi from port to beach for $7 a person round trip. Rented two chairs and an umbrella for $20 with access to WiFi and bathrooms (no reservation). Lovely time relaxing at the beach and swimming in the ocean.

We love St Maarten. We did our own excursion which we had done before. It was AMAZING again!! Check out Captain Alan's Boat Charters snorkeling trips. We had so much fun and saw such a variety of sea life.
