We always like this port. Small shopping area available right off the ship and then a quick taxi or water taxi takes you to the middle of downtown for more shopping or easy access to a nice beach. We didn't do an excursion this time.

From the cruise you can take the water taxi, a regular taxi or walk to Philipsburg. There is Great Bay Beach, there are also shops, restaurants and you can rent beach chairs. The beers are at a good price and we had a great time there. It is our second time in ST Marteen and we love this area near the cruise. Sellers are very insistent but that is their job. No excursion.

Excellent excursion - tour of both Dutch and French sides and a little shopping time. arranged through Cruises.com. Small number of people and a super guide- very knowledgeable and friendly. Only disappointment was beach - an alternate one due to hurricane damage at planned one

We did a city tour - informative and just the right amount of time (2.5 hours). Good shopping stop at open air market. Also went out to Maho Beach - incredibly crowded for a September afternoon. Flights are not frequent if you are hoping to "fly the fence". The destruction from Hurricane Irma (2017) is still obvious throughout the island.

After Hurricane Irma the people here are still in a rebuilding phase with a significant amount of destruction still remaining all over the island. The port area has been cleaned up with some walking areas still being constructed. The walk from the ship to downtown is short with many restaurants and shops open. There is a ferry from the ship to the downtown area and the cost is approximately $7 USD round trip.

We went on an excursion here. It was nice to see the island. There was a lot of traffic when we were there. The excursion was informative on the history of the island. Overall I liked this port!

We grabbed a van right outside the port and had a great time at Sunset Bar on Maho Beach. Nice beach with surf, decent food and cheap beer. What more could you ask for?

Island still had some damage from the hurricane but they have recovered very quickly! We enjoyed our excursion on Golden Eagle Catamaran and highly recommend this excursion when you're here. Water was very "foggy" still from sand being blown around from the storm but overall still great excursion!
