This was our first time here. We rented a golf cart and explored the island on our own. We did the south loop, stopped at the salt flats which is a marvel inself. Had lunch at the Hang Out Beach Bar, then made our way to Coco Beach. Wish we had more time to do the north loop, but that will have to wait til next time. A great little island with great people!

We limited ourselves to walking along the drive that parallels the shoreline. Stopped for some shaved ice in a little market area. We were surprised by the number of Europeans and Americans who reside on the island. Dutch is the official language but English is easily accommodated.

We took a bus from port to Lac Bay. We were the first to arrive that day and we almost left due to the habitat protection signs near shore. However, a local informed us that beach chairs were $5 and beers were $2 so we decided to stay. Best decision we made! Once it warmed up we walked between the habitat preservations into the bay. The water was only waist deep and you could walk for what seemed like a mile. It was absolutely beautiful. We were also able to watch people learning to wind surf. This ended up being our favorite day of a ten day cruise!

The most beautiful island we saw, the water color was like nothing I’ve ever seen, so turquoise and clear. We did a kayak and snorkel excursion. Kayaking was fun, but the snorkeling was amazing right off the beach, so many things to look at and a ton of fish. We shopped in town after and found the people very welcoming and friendly. The stores had some cool handmade jewelry and lots of other unique finds. Loved Bonaire!

Mangrove Eco tour by RIB boat, Big Foot Tours.. Do not miss this! Informative trip to learn about the island and some of its unique history and areas, We saw Hundreds of beautiful pink flamingos. Took an off road truck ride to Lac Bay, went back into the Mangroves and learned about there importance and why they need to remain protected!
