Dropping anchor at Samana and tendering a long way in you find yourself with nothing but a few locals selling jewelry and a few trinkets. If you stop here advise you book a tour as everything is on the other side of the island. Tender operation - a long line of people waiting to return to the ship in the hot sun and for no explained reason they sent 2 tenders back to the ship empty. Very poorly organized.

Appreciate Celebrity giving all cruisers the opportunity to see the poverty in the Carribean but there is no work nor employment in this town. Many residents rent a car for the day as a taxi when a ship is in, and then hope to get cruisers to use their services. Celebrity might think about this location as a "volunteer" stop for guests to drop supplies off for the kids and orphange, and other opportunities to aid.

Did not get to go because itinerary was changed because ship was late.

We did not do an excursion but got off the boat and walked around. The ship provided no maps or ideas of what to do ashore other than the excursions. This was disappointing compared to other cruises we have been on.

After waiting a while to get on a tender, we walked half way through the town & went back to the ship. Nothing to do there & we were to early for whale watching.
