We purchased a day pass at viva Wyndham Fortuna in advance. beautiful beach. You really need to do an excursion or have a plan to take a taxi to a nice beach area on this port.

Our only excursion for this cruise was at Freeport and we did the Dolphin Close Encounter excursion which started at 7:15. We were off the boat as soon as customs allowed which was about 7:10 and we immediately loaded onto a 20 minute bus ride to a gift shop. Instructed to walk through the gift shop and exit the back of the shop to a boat. The boat ride was approximately 20 minutes as well. The "Captain" was friendly, helpful with everyone entering onto the boat and exceptional helpful with the elderly. Boat ride was informative and questions were encouraged and answered eagerly. Arrived to the Dolphin Encounter and the excursion was great. Many questions and information about the dolphins was by the two gentlemen (very nice and professional) from the Dolphin encounter. We were allowed to touch and then the dolphins kissed us for our photo. When you return to the gift shop the pictures are upstairs and displayed on the wall for purchase. Not much more time was allowed for shopping at the gift shop so keep that in mind. Had never been to Freeport before this cruise and no beach is at the pier like Grand Turk and HMC. Was informed a taxi could be used to get to a beach but was told that next time to take an excursion that included a beach area afterwards. Highly suggested by numerous others that the beach quality is better that is offered after an excursion.

Didn’t do an excursion there, but next time we will. But still from pictures I saw from people who did, the beaches were pretty

Stormed again, shore excursion cancelled. Took a different one, again flawless transition regarding funds. We did Top 10 spots, got to see 9 due to storms, Warren G. was our driver and was funny and informative. Plenty of time to explore each stop.

Does anyone recommend doing a Day pass at Grand Lucaya resort? How long of a taxi ride is it from the port? Anyone know if they sell Day passes that also include beverages or food? Thanks!

Purchased the catamaran snorkeling excursion. Got to see a lot of the island riding to the beach and lots of fish in the beautiful water. There is no beach area at the port. There are plenty of souvenir shops as well as a Senior Frogs and Fat Tuesday’s.

Rented jeeps and became part of a caravan seeing the island. Went on wooded trails, mud bogging, beaches and to the Garden of the Groves for peaceful relaxing lunch. Drove the Causarina waterway. So much fun.

The people of Freeport are amazing, however, the port itself is very industrial; not a tropical paradise.

We did the Beach excursion (open bar 12-4:30pm thru carnival) and it was a ton of fun and less crowded than the earlier time slot. Clean beach, crystal clear water and staff was friendly.

Not the best port to visit. The beaches are beautiful but you have to drive about 30 mins to get to them. Family had decided that we won’t get off the ship again if we visit this port. Plus side is Fat Tuesday’s and Senor Frogs are both right outside the gate by the ship.
