If you enjoy shopping, dinning, bars and local music all in a central open-air mall, Freeport is for you. Everything we heard about Freeport before the cruise was negative. It is true that Freeport has been rebuilding following a devastating hurricane. It is also true that the immediate area around the port is very industrial. However, the port has more than enough to keep you busy just steps from the ship.

Nothing to do here, really, unless you book an excursion. It's more of a beach day, than anything else. If we go back, will definitely do an excursion. Not an all day beach person...

Freeport is a very good place to stroll threw shops or sit out for a drink. I loved the industrial portion for pictures but I'm that person. It is what you make of it.

After reading reviews we were not looking forward to Freeport. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. We took taxi to the Grand Lucayan Resort where we had access to a beautiful beach and swimming pools. There’s also a great place to shop across the street.

We wanted to spend day on ship and do a little shopping. Port had enough shopping so we didn’t have to go anywhere else. There’s a little coconut juice stand that sells a drink called Sky Juice and it’s amazing. Get it with the rum in it. So good!

We had an awesome time, beer factory tour and some sampling. Perfume factory tour and visited the liquor store next door. And finally some shopping before we headed back to the ship. Our guide sweet-pea was funny and very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts.

I did 2 excursions on this island, the tour in jeeps and then the ATV. Jeep was okay the than there are 4 drivers the paid the same price and taking turns leaves for very little time driving. The ATV was lots if fun and will do this one again should I go back to Freeport. ctav

Don’t even waste your time. When we ported I could see the shops and bars and they were exactly the same from Nassau, so I stayed on the boat. However my friends still got off. It was like I said- a waste of time. The beach was miles away and a $30 cab ride for EACH person. Will never go back.

We did the Bahamian House Adventure through Carnival. The tour guide, Joe, was amazing. He was totally informative and just a fun guy. It was nice to learn about the island on the way to the excursion. The excursion itself was okay, the host, chef and bartender was absolutely friendly and pleasant. The drink were very heavy handed, I don’t mind the taste of alcohol but it was very hard to finish without adding some juice. Even my husband had trouble getting them down! The food was delicious. My husband and I had chicken, rice and veggies; which were fantastic! They also served us conch fritters, not much our taste but the breading was very good. Almost like a hush puppy. The biggest problem I had with our experience is the excursion includes a beach across the street. While accessing the beach there is a group of ladies with their straw market. I honestly wasn’t expecting on a paid excursion to come across hagglers, especially more aggressive haggling. The beach was shallow which was fine. And actually pretty clean. There was a few rocks but totally manageable if you didn’t have water shoes. The excursion was very short. It felt like as soon as I started to get comfortable it was time to be whisked away to get back on the ship! All in all it was a good day in Freeport, would i do this excursion again? Probably not.
