We chose to visit a few of the historic sites on our own - found that Jost House and Cossit Houses were closed for private tours - off the ship. Was very glad we did not pay for walking tours - not really worth it. Walked to Sydney shopping center - that's exactly what it was - grocery store, Zellers, small mallish - nothing special - to be sure.

We didn't take a tour here because suprisingly, our former next door neighbors were touring Eastern Canada in their motorhome and met us at the port. We did enjoy a trip to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum with them as well as lunch at a little seaside restaurant. The Best seafood chowder we have ever tasted (next to mom's ,of course).

Too bad it was pouring rain. Took in a nice little museum and they served "oat cakes and tea"
