We spent 2 nights here in a hotel, before our cruise. Loved walking all around this city, which we'd been to before. Took a tour the day before our cruise departed.

We did our own walking tour of Old Montreal. Others who did city bus tours were not pleased. We felt we saw the most scenic sights of the old section of Montréal.

When we disembarked we checked our luggage at the port ($5 per bag), grabbed a map and did a walking tour of Old Montreal. When we got back we needed to show our cruise card and luggage tags. Someone from HAL got them for us and got us a taxi to the airport. Taxi is a flat fee of $49.

Very close to port. Old downtown was beautiful and within easy walking distance!

We were here during the International Jazz Festival (we stayed 3 blocks away). Great music every night. We also did the Hop On, Hop Off shuttle for 2 days so saw a lot of the city, although you can get to the same places via subway as well (which is underground). We felt this was a very safe city.

I live here- so it’s my favourite port. If I didn’t though, I would have walked around old Montreal- just steps from where the ship is docked. Go see Notre Dame Basilica ! The metro is easy and safe to use, and I recommend you see any of the following -St Joseph’s Oratory, the Botanical Gardens, or walk in Ste Catherine street (which looks like any US Downtown ) or take a taxi up to the top of Mount Royal for a spectacular view of the city! While French is still the primary language here, you’ll find many more English speaking merchants/people here.
