Instead of excursion, we rented bikes to cycle around in the Acadia National Park. We’ve been there several times in the summer but always by car. This was the first time we biked the famous Carriage Road which doesn’t allow motor vehicles. It felt more intimate with the park being able to see places like the beautiful Eagle Lake, that most people visiting Acadia never got to see because they were in cars. We biked over 20 miles up and down. Back on the ship, my legs felt like jelly.

We tendered to town. The Visitor Information booth at the dock was helpful. Get a map. Walk up the hill by numerous shops and go to the village green. You can take the free national park bus to various points in Acadia National Park and the Jordan Pond House. What an incredible ride and scenery. Bar Harbor was our favorite stop. The people were amazingly friendly.

It would have been helpful if I knew in advance that there is not taxi/Uber service in Bar Harbor, other than that everything was excellent. I went on a private tour through a company I found on Google. The guide (Ron) was great. He was informative as well as entertaining.

Bar Harbor is a charming, quaint town. It was cool and misty on the day we were in port but I still enjoyed strolling through town.

Bar Harbour is a quaint town with many restaurants and some shopping (although much had already shut down for the season in late October). The problem again was the tendering. Since it was so foggy--the lifeboats could not travel independently--they had to travel right behind the larger "ferry" and as the captain put it "trail like little sheep". So--basically you had to sit on this tender that was packed as full as they could get it and wait for the larger ferry to also fill up--all the while bobbing up and down in the water. Did take a nice excursion to Acadia National Park--but the whole tendering process took 1 1/2 hours on the way back from when I first got in line to when I got onto the ship. Next time I'm not getting off the ship if tendering is involved.

Walked over to Bar Island during low tide. Be aware of the tide schedule, or you will be stranded. Tides come in fast and water is too cold to swim if you get stuck. You can call for a boat to rescue you for $$$$. In the afternoon, we took a nature boat cruise through the harbor and neighboring islands, saw many bald eagles.

We were all tired and it was raining again. Tendering delays started cutting into the day so we went to the buffet and enjoyed the fall colors from onboard and took pictures with the photo staff. Lazy day enjoying the ship.

Took a fabulous small van tour to Arcadia National Park. Walked around Bar Harbor after.
