The Raptors and the Totem poles in Heritage park were exciting. I would have like to have had a tour guide with me. I ended up walking a trail to see totem poles, only to do a loop with no totem poles. The signs did not give enough information, only direction. Loved St. Michaels--absolutely beautiful.

We did some shopping here, no excursion. Kind of an out of the way destination, aside from the scenery, there wasn't much to see.

We walked around Sitka on our own. It was a fun place to explore. There was a great local feel, not just workers for the season.

No excursion. Salmon were running, and the science center had outdoor viewing areas to watch salmon jump the ladders. Walked thru the “Totem Pole” national park. The forest was amazing. When we got to the Indian River, I felt like I was in a National Geographic video. Thousands of salmon fighting their way up stream. You could walk right down to the water.

I did the Raptor Center/Fortress of the Bear/ salmon Hatchery tour. We weren’t in Sitka very long so the excursion took the majority of our time in port. But it was so worth it! And if you’re thinking about Sitka looking like it did in The Proposal….don’t. The movie was filmed mostly in Massachusetts. But it’s a neat little town, nonetheless.

Great town with a lot if history. Sitka National Park was beautiful and a very easy walk.
