Sitka, Alaska Port Reviews

We got the shuttle bus into Sitka and booked on a tour outside the Civic Centre for the Raptor Centre and Bear Fortress. Really enjoyed it and they dropped us back at the ship.

Sitka is nice, but waiting in pouring rain for a bus with 4000 plus people is not efficient. have handicap line and separate buses for them to improve boarding times perhaps? Also, RCCL did not allow smoked salmon on board. could be shipped but were not told this, many passengers through away 100's of dollars of purchases yet the shopowners could ship if we knew.

Did not do any excursions.

My favorite port! Beautiful Island. Great hassle free shopping, great food and very friendly people who want to share there city.

Best port of call we had

The day started out rainy, but cleared as we left the ship. We boarded the free shuttle to the downtown visitors center and booked an excursion with limited walking. We saw the Eagle and Bear reserves and visited the Totem Pole Park. Due limited time in port we didn’t get any time to experience the local shops.

We did the bears and homestead. The issue is it is not a home stead. Good excursion but not what we expected. The bears were great

Easy to get to land not much there right of ship didn’t take time to go into their town

Did not go on any excursions. Wanted to just walk around and explore. Cool little city, wish we had more time. Some time taken up by having to use the small boats to get to shore, but that was efficient. Wandered around, including in to the Russian Orthodox church, which was beautiful. Asked where we should eat- went to Beak, which is in back of their small radio station, which looks like an old house. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Visitor center has nice displays of the history of the area.

Whale watching was awesome! We used Baranof Tours, captain Pat was awesome. Just 6 passengers, it was an amazing experience. We saw many humpback whales and sea otters.
