Still a very early departure that could have been extended.

I loved Sitka - it was beautiful. I did do the excursion that rode a ferry with whale watching, stopped at the bald eagle rehabilitation center, and then stopped to see the bears. My concern about this excursion was that it was scheduled from 10:30 am - 3:30 pm. It was noted that snacks would be available. There were very few snacks provided on the ferry at the start of the excursion. There was no place to purchase a lunch until we got to see the bears at 2:30 pm. We were also instructed to NOT bring any food or drink from the ship when we disembarked. With the schedule, the lack of lunch, and no ability to bring snacks, this excursion is poorly planned for those with dietary needs and young children (it was bad enough for us adults without those issues).

Sitka was very beautiful, nice weather. I liked the smallness of the town and learned a lot of history when touring the museum; nice shopping areas.

Did a whale watching excursion on a small boat (booked through American Airlines). It was a highlight of the trip. Saw over 3 dozen whales, some sea lions.

There are many great tours, museums, and sites to see in Sitka, although you need to take a bus to get into town first.
