Free Yellow School Bus Shuttle with stops around town and they also take your luggage as well. Picked us up at the train station. We used this to get around during our brief stay. Give tip many of them are veterans. Also the Sea life Center is a great stop. Souvenirs here are higher priced than the other stops.

We spent a couple days here. Fished successfully for halibut and shipped 30 lbs. home to enjoy after our vacation. Loved the free city bus ride all over town.

Took the train down from Anchorage and walked to the ship. They had free shuttle buses from the train to the ship but I enjoyed the walk after sitting on the train. Saw a humpback whale feeding in the harbor right beside the ship. Easy embarkation, small lines and quickly on board.

We rode the bubble train from Anchorage to Seward. That was a phenomenal experience! We sat in the front car at the top of the train and there were glass windows surrounding us. Nothing to block our view of the gorgeous scenery around us. We saw many eagles and some wildlife. We also had breakfast on board and that was a delight as well as delicious. The men in our party of six went on a fishing excursion while the women toured the Sea Life Center. The aviary was our favorite spot with many of the birds putting on a performance for the visitors. There were many varieties of birds and ducks with the puffins being my favorite. The Center was over-priced, but educational. It promotes the protection of all wildlife in Alaska so the money goes to a good cause.

Ship arrived in Seward and we got on a coach for Denali. We spent last evening and next day in Anchorage. We stayed at the Westmark which was OK, it did have a harbor view and was convenient to walking around town. We had a good dinner at The 49th State Brewery. The next morning we slept in and packed. We had a really good breakfast at Snow City Cafe. We walked to a small park. Then we did some shopping , stopped at visitors center, and spent the rest of the afternoon in the Federal Building watching films on Alaska ( nature, wildlife, volcano, earthquake) and listened to a park ranger talk. We walked back to our hotel, got on our transfer bus to the airport and a short ride later we were at the airport, then on our way home. Great views flying out of Anchorage, even saw northern lights on flight home!

If you can take the land tour that you book through the Cruise Ship to Denali and then the domed train ride to Fairbanks, I would highly recommend it!

We booked the train to Anchorage ourselves. You can take the free shuttle which stops at the ship and all spots around town. You can check your luggage at the train station in the morning for the train ride at 6 pm.

The 3 hour bus ride from Anchorage to Seward doesnt stop for snacks, so, if you're off a long flight EAT at the airport or you'll be hungry. The bus ride, VERY scenic...gets you in the mood for what is to come. I didnt see much in Seward as we boarded immediately, but there didnt seem to be much to see anyway.

We took the scenic train directly to Anchorage. It did not disappoint. I would not have known to do this, but my friend, Carolyn Leibowitz, from Cruiseplanners set it up. I'd hate to have missed this. In Anchorage, we ate on the roof of the 49th State Brewing Company. It was a beautiful day with a view of the water, and Denali off in the distance. The food was great, too.
