We were there 1st week in September and it was crazy! I would expect that late August would be as well. Walk up along the river and be entertained.

there were a bunch trying to do the fish ladder in mid August (and a bunch of seals guarding the streams outflow). Do note that hundreds of expired salmon lined the banks at that time as well.

It really depends on which specific salmon when their at peak. However, it ranges from June, July, and August as the peak months. Salmon fishing in Ketchikan is available June 1 through September.

luckily, the courts just decided today that the salmon season would reopen on July 1st.
