Not much to see although you could walk to the old Fort but not many buildings open. The Bald Eagle Sanctuary was very good and very nice in there.

We have always enjoyed our trips to Haines. We have made a number of good friends there over the years, and always enjoy going back. You can take the ferry to Skagway, do a little shopping, go visit Paul and Jeanne at the brewery, grab a bite at The Fireweed or Pilot Light, for a small Alaskan town there’s a lot to do.

Will have to pay $$$ to go to Skagway. We chose to go kayaking instead ($$) - fun, but not worth the cost (the included lunch was a small sandwich, chips, and soda that we ate while sitting on the beach looking at the cruise ship (thinking about the buffet on-board) AFTER the kayaking trip.

My most favorite! Haines is a small Alaskan Village that has not succumbed to the touristy commercialism and I hope they never do. We had a lot of time at this port so we did an ATV adventure early and that was fun but my most favorite was the hike we did in the afternoon. You can get off the ship and take a left, walk a little less then a mile to the trail head and the hiking trail is just spectacular with views that will leave you breathless.

The main tour attraction depart from Skagway. Other cruise lines and even HAL on the Northward cruise anchor at Skagway. Haines to Skagway is a fast ferry ride, 45 minutes, $75 extra. The state cruise was not running.

Did an awesome trip with the Haines Rafting Company. Thanks Becky for being an awesome guide and doing all the hard work rowing away! What gorgeous scenery... And the eagles! Wow, there were so many we lost count!
