CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER Port Reviews

Sadly, we did NOT see it. We were told there was a medical emergency, which we understand takes precedence, but Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier was the highlight of the cruise for us when booking. Our excursion to the glacier was reimbursed, but no other effort was made by the cruise line to compensate us for missing what we most anticipated. We essentially booked the Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier Cruise without ever seeing the Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, which would be funny if happening in a sitcom... less so in real life.

There was a medical emergency the night before and we sailed close to Juneau, so we did not get to get as close to this glacier. That was the only hiccup in the adventure.

A better time of day would have been much more desirable, but we all got up at 4:30 am and loved the scenery and commentary by Mark, the Naturalist. Always a great experience to see glaciers up close.

The weather and other factors allowed us to see the glacier, though many cruises are not able to. View/experience was amazing.

Captain said there was too much ice in the water to go to the Glacier so we turned around and started going back. I later found out from a crew member that the ship always turns around where we did because it is too big to go up to see the glacier because it is too big to turn around and come back out.

We lucked out with beautiful weather and the ship was able to get pretty close to the glacier.

Loved that we could get in and see the glacier!

Iceburgs prevented ship from getting close enough to see the glacier or experiencing the calving.

Did not get up in time to see the big glacier but what I seen outside was nice.
