it's really two different things. seeing a glacier from the water is unforgettable. but, the glaciers up the arms (Endicott or Tracy) are sometimes unreachable if there are too many growlers (little icebergs) in the way. the ship will do it's best, but has to err on the side of caution. The scenery on shore is impressive.Cruising the inside passage has no such issues. and just about all cruises go through it. it's awesome to see all the islands and if you are lucky, wildlife.

I did ship and itinerary Oct 2021. It was my first Alaska cruise and it was amazing.

The Fjords are amazing, but if it’s calving you want to see…Glacier Bay and Hubbard top of my list.
