December 2023 - 5 Night Bermuda (New York Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

Not-to-Bermuda Cruise

It was a combination of disappointments and frustrations mixed with having a really fun time with my friends.

August 2016 - 7 Night Bermuda (New York Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

Breakaway Bad Pool Deck

This was my umpteenth trip to Bermuda.  It is a wonderful place to visit: easy to travel in, very friendly people, safe, and beautiful beaches.  This was my fourth cruise on the Breakaway, and try as I might, I cannot love this ship.  I have cruised many times on various lines and ships and the Breakaway is the largest of them.  It is also the ship with the smallest pool and the most cramped pool area.  All of the usual silly games and music activities that occur poolside are almost impossible to participate in because there is no room.  What were the designers thinking?  What does make this ship enjoyable is the friendliness of the crew, from Dan Dan, the cruise director, and Luz, his assistant, to Irma and JuanCho, bartenders, to the guest services people, all are friendly and welcoming.  I would go back just to see them again!

Norwegian Breakaway

Too many people

This cruise was the fifth on this itinerary, and the third on the Breakaway. Although the Breakaway is lovely and the designed to hide the fact that there are often over 4,000 passengers, it all comes to naught when tendering everyone to Stirrup Cay, Norwegian's private island.  When just about everyone wants to get off at the same time, it lierally takes hours.  These mega ships are just too large, and it seems that's all that is being built now.  I just learned that my favorite ship, the Gem, is being removed from New York after next year and is being replaced by a ship even larger than the Breakaway.  How sad!  I guess I just will have to find a new cruise line near by with a smaller ship.
