Carnival Valor Cruise Jan 16-23
Our overall experience was good. We were traveling with multiple families. My family was assigned a separate dining table from the rest. This was very upsetting as I was the one that booked the cruise for the others. We went to the talk to the Matre'd the first day and was told that we were not linked to the others and the only hing they could do was get us switched with a table close to the others. Luckily, They were able to do that; but it still wasn't the same as we weren't able to eat all together. We spent most of our time on the ship in the pools and hot tubs. They weren't over crowded at any time. We also enjoyed the nightly movies while we were swimming or enjoying the hot tub. Although it was hard to hear the movie in the upper hot tub. The food was great in the dining room. The buffet on Lido could have been better. Half the time, they closed some of the lines before main dining times were over. They offered the same things for breakfast every day. Working coffee makers were hard to find. We would have liked more options outside the dining room and buffet for dinner. The different islands were very nice. We felt very rushed though and would have liked more time at all of them. I feel the price of the pictures were very overpriced. The package deals should be available throughout the entire cruise, not just the first couple days.
There's a free trolley that will take you to all of the forts. It stops right outside of the terminal.
There is a beach right off the dock with free beach chairs. It is very crowded though. The beach is quite rocky and you have to be careful walking into the ocean. We found it easier to start swimming right away. Also, the ships are docked directly in front of the beach. The sun went behind them in the afternoon. Margaritaville is also right there. They have a pool that was also crowded and the drinks were overpriced. There are locals strolling down the beach offering cheaper drinks. Next time, I will try the private beach excursion.
Numerous taxis available outside the gate. Check out Coral World on your own. We were able to do a sea lion encounter and were the only 3 people in it, so we got a lot of one-on-one time with the sea lion. This was my favorite part of the entire trip.
