Carnival Fantasy

Carnival Fantasy

Sail date: May 16, 2014

Carnival-They do just enough right.

We chose this cruise because of the proximity of departure port and It was our 17 year old son's first cruise. The ports of call were Freeport and Nassau. The ship was a little run down, but very clean. All the service staff were professional and good at their jobs. The entertainment was sub par, but the Punchliner comedy club was good for many adult laughs.

The food was what you would expect fromCarnival. the buffets were good, but not great. The dining was standard upscale fair. They had no "specialty" restaurants that you could choose from for dinner.

Freeport was a pretty blah port. The places to shop were ok, but the workers/owners were not very excited to see the people. Find a good beach and hang out there.

Nassau was more interesting. Before we were allowed to venture out, they gave us a warning. The US Embassy there warned that we were not advised to go anywhere but the touristy areas for our own safety. We took a carriage ride around the area, and the driver routinely pointed out the cameras and cops on every streetcorner. In many areas the port felt "tired". Hit the straw market if you like to shop and haggle. It is a bit stuffy, but you get the best prices.

Senor Frog's are at many ports of call, but are way overpriced. $16.00 for tacos? find a local restaurant in the safe area and save a few bucks and get good food.

Stay in the "safe areas". Shop and eat. Stay away from Senor Frog's unless you have plenty of $$.

Get you pool chairs early on the days at sea. If you don't have them by 10:00 AM, you might not get any sun.
