I wished that I had kept all those old photos of the late night buffets. I threw most of my old cruise photos out because they were fading over the years. Who knew back then that there were programs that could bring them back to their original state or even improve the. Sigh!

Very true. You can't compare buffets from cruises taken years ago to more recent ones. I have to say this, though, the buffet that we had on a HAL Grand Voyage was quite different from the back to back cruise buffet on the same ship.

Sounds liked you had a truly wonderful buffet an Celebrity Equinox. I always enjoy cruising with Celebrity.

Sometimes I am very disappointed in the quality of desserts at the buffet. I sticainly to ice cream.

I can never figure that out. HAL has a great buffet, but then they go and mess up the desserts. At first I thought it was just that particular ship, the Noordam, but the Veendam was just as bad. I could understand if say Carnival had a bad aspect to the buffet, but HAL ?

Yeah, for some reason, desserts are not that great at the buffet. If I take anything besides ice cream I opt for a pudding or a mousse.

I love when people ask for pictures of those Grand Buffets. They don't understand, digital cameras weren't really around back then. We would have to scan a photo or negative to show them how amazing and creative the chefs were back then.

I do remember them. Yummy

Remember the Midnight Buffet back in the 90's ? Now that was the time of the great buffets.

The best buffet I ever experienced was Princess a few moons ago... but that doesn't mean anything today. I agree that to rate buffets now, one has to travel a lot in a short amount of time. That said, we haven't been bowled over (npi) by any of the buffets on our most recent voyages on RC, Celebrity, or NCL.
