Solo cabin cruises

Has anyone did a solo cabin on a cruise? What did you think? What are the best? Was it worth it? Thanks!

I booked a studio cabin on the Quantum OTS. The cabins are in great locations on the ship—midship. Yes...there is a full size bed and ample storage space. The shower was nice as well. There is no chair or cocktail table. You get an ottoman and half a desk. To watch TV you have to sit on the bed. There is no “quad” for you to meet other solos. The cabins are integrated with the other balcony cabins. You have to know the cabin number to know that it’s a studio. For a few dollars more coupled with a sale and CAS balcony discount, you’re better off with a regular balcony—at least for me. So, I cancelled the studio cabin I booked on the Anthem for a regular balcony cabin. It was much more spacious. Although the cabin was a bit too small for me; the balcony was almost half the size of my cabin—at least it looked and felt that way. The balcony was great! You get a single supplement on Royal Caribbean after 340 points. Instead of paying 200% you pay 150%.

I used it twice and absolutely love it! Ample storage space, full size bed - cabin smaller than inside but very smartly organized. I did not feel luck of space at all. Plus common living room for all solo passengers - great place to meet, play games grab a free snack, free upscale coffee and a bar in the evening, 2 huge TV's. Coordinator who will take all willing people to the dinner ( avoiding wait lines). White communication board - what not to love! I'm not a big fan of super-ships and my only wish is to find it on a smaller ships.

Those cabins are the ones I’m curious about.

I’m curious if anyone has used these.

That’s how most lines work. I’m glad they are slowly putting in solo cabins.

With RCI and most other lines, if you book a cabin that is not one of the Studio, single occupancy type, you are usually forced to pay the double occupancy rate(Depending on the cruise, that could really hurt)

Although, with the RCI Crown and Anchor society, I have heard once you get to Emerald and higher, they drop it to 75% of the double occupancy rate,

Both NCL and RCL have studio cabins for single travelers on the newer larger ships

I think I read somewhere that cruise lines are starting to cater to the solo cruisers. NCL, I think has cabins specifically for them that are kind of like mini apartments on the ship.

My sister in law would appreciate this info. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I’ve never cruised by myself. Thinking I might give it a shot.
