Hope they all enjoyed those "guaranteed cabins".......

Agree. Overbooking is NOT just for airlines or cruises.

My second wedding, I was one of seven potential grooms which I learned about, at the end of the aisle, just outside the church. We all met, and had a great fellowship of stories and tales of adventure with a certain 'someone'. Needless to say, we all 'bumped' ourselves from the wedding (that did not happen) and had a great time together at a local establishment. The 'gauranteed cabin' was left vacant overnight. LOL !!!

The benefit of booking a specific cabin and getting the cabin number at booking time. Unless there is something wrong with the cabin or unless someone upstairs decided they needed the cabin for someone else this generally does not happen. So this goes to show that the lower price for the "guarantee" is not as good a deal as one might think. You pay or don't pay the $$ and you take the chances. As the man says .. no such thing as a free lunch.

Hmmmmmm....... If our plans to retire to a warmer climate has us settle within an easy drive to a FL cruise port, then I'd be inclined to try to employ that as a strategy to potentially score big.

Yeah sure, we'd be out some gas, and maybe (or "mebbe" as you would put it) a nights hotel stay, but compared to the potential payoff............

It might not be as hard as you think either. Just pick a cruise during a time that is wildly popular (New Years perhaps).

Sure, it's a long shot, but I'll bet overall the odds are better than gambling in the ship's casino.

Sometimes i can't find our cabin even after I found it...IF you get my drift.....but seriously, it seems RCC had to be threatened to have its corporate cheapness arm twisted publicly before it did the right thing...and even so, I could understand that "sour-taste" after the incident...but....given enough apologies ($$$$$), I think i would get over it...BTW, what happens to all those "incidental" expenses most folks have to deal with just to GET to the pier...food, lodging, mebbe airfare and gas and so on??? most working folks and those with kids can't reschedule vackays willy nilly....

AND would you ever rebook a "guaranteed cabin?"??? which ain't so guaranteed after all?

Oh, my! That would be a nightmare! In fact, I think I’ve had that dream and the one where I can’t find our cabin.
