Cruise lines offer additional on board credit if you are a shareholder/. I was wondering how many of you are shareholders of cruise line stock?.

Yes, we own CCL, RCL and NCL stock. We take advantage of stockholder benefits whenever available.

I have been using this benefit on over 12 or more cruises on Carnival, HAL & Princess. For me it has worked like a charm. I am receiving $250 onboard credit on my next cruise. This benefit is nothing to sneeze at. I bought the stock the day of the Costa Concordia disaster when the stock fell.

The process is so simple. I just mail or fax them a copy of my last brokerage statement. They accept several other forms of proof as well such as proxy card or copy of certificate, et cetera. I usually submit soon after booking or up to two weeks before the cruise. I fax or mail our name, cabin numer, ship, sailing date and booking # in a form letter that I keep on my computer, changing just the specific numbers and include my proof. If you use a travel agent, he or she will do it for you.

I own 100 shares and the stock has done exceptionally well for me, but the onboard credits makes it extra valuable. I have had absolutely no issues ever with getting the credit. Carnival contacts me back that the credit has been applied. I always bring that confirmation with me just in case but there has never been any time that the credit was not applied. I can't imagine what is happening with your requests that is complicating the process.

Now if you were talking about using RCCL shareholder credit I would agree with you. If you use any other credit, it is disallowed. Carnival is very generous and the shareholder credit is accepted on top of all other credits that are applied to a booking. I sold my RCCLstock because it was only accepted once. I still made a tidy profit with it anyway. I am not sorry that I purchased it. I am holding on to my Carnival stock. I have already applied it to the two HAL cruises that I am taking next year. The credits were confirmed by Carnival and show up on HALs computers.

I wish you better luck on your next cruise. Start the process early since you are experiencing problems. Good luck to you. Don't give up on this valuable perk.

Carnival does that. You get some cabin $ credits if you own so many shares of Carnival Corp redeemed on any of their brand name lines. We did that, have a bunch of Carnival stock as a result. In fairness, most posters who have done the same love it, it works out for them.

I've tried and I wish I never heard of this scheme. I've played this game with them for at least 5 cruises since we purchased their stock. Carnival Corp makes me feel like one of those circus dogs running in circles, jumping through hoops.

Now I realize I am missing something in the sequence of trying to get the I's dotted and the T's crossed in order to achieve the brass ring, banana or whatever. Okay, I give up. Carnival take your stock and shove it. Want to buy some Carnival? Good deal. If not good luck.
