Questions about working on cruise ships

Hello, forum!

My name is Matias and I currently work as a mate onboard ships in Norway. I have always had a dream of working onboard a cruise ship and lately, I have thought more seriously about applying for a job. But after closer examination, I see that most ships operate with 3 months onboard and 3 months of system.

At the moment, this is a little too long for me.

So my question is if anyone is familiar with vessels / shipping companies that operate with something like a 1 month on / 1 month of system or similar

3 months on/3 months off is a lot different from my experience. Of course, this was 13 years ago. My contracts were 6 to 9 months on and a month, maybe 6 weeks, off

Maybe check with a cruise line specific recruiting agency.

Or you could try crewing on a luxury yacht charter. The charter seasons are about 6-8 weeks in a region and you wouldn't have a long term contract. Recruiters in Ft. Lauderdale area.
