Lugging Luggage

I own every type brand size of luggage made and all of it has gone on one cruise or another in the past year. There is a graveyard of luggage in the garage that is no longer allowed to cruise because it's: Too deep to fit under the bed in cabin, too cumbersome to wheel when weighted down, Too big and heavy for airlines and too small inside.

The luggage many of you got at Christmas is perfect by the way

Two suggestions: Drop bags at pier early if possible. If flying, remember that most airlines will not allow you to check bags earlier than 4 hours before flight, so you will be wheeling it around at the airport if early.

The plastic tags that attach with wires to hold cruise ship tags are well worth the money!

Better take a closer look on the Princess site for Luggage Valet. The cancellation fee is $25 but looks like it starts at $90 per bag. Just don't want you to have an unpleasant surprise!

We use the new plastic tags that you insert your ship luggage paper tags into & then attach to your luggag/. They are quite sturdy and i ordered a few more to have just in case.

This is why I pack Light, one carry on and my back pack will last for me through a 7 night cruise and a couple days in a hotel pre or post cruise. Big Smile

It's with an outside contractor.

For $25 per person, though, all they really do is input your check-in info into the computer, take your suitcases to the airport, and check them in for your flight. I assume they have an agreement with the airline that waives the "no checking luggage in until 2 hours before your flight" rule.

Not all airlines participate either.

I've been told it is $25 per person plus airline baggage fees. Additionally, overweight fees are waived (so I've been told).

If one person checks two bags, and the airline charges $25 for the first bag and $35 for the second, they the cruiser pays 25+25+35, or $85. If one person checks two bags, and the airline has no fees, then the price is $25.

It's the low price of $25 per bag that throws me - I know of the Luggage Forward company and a few others but the cost for those services is out of sight.

True And Haul he did ...He was the perfect Schlep Camel ... the only thing that still baffles me is why our luggage weighed so much less coming home ... he claimed he threw out anything I didn't use but nothing is missing that I can tell lol

Princess does contract with only certain airlines, maybe yours wasn't part of the contract, or possibly the airport is not included.

Hopefully they continue the program at FLL at least until 4/19/17Happy

From what I understand, the paperwork is included in all the flyers they hand out during the cruise -- easy to get trashed with the rest of the ads. I don't think it is announced or verbally offered at any time.

Of course all my information on this subject comes from that "critical" board, so consider the sourceBig Smile
