Just joined Cruiseline, posting a personal intro

Hello everyone,

My husband and I have been cruising since 2003. Pretty much every year since then, we have taken at least one trip.

We are 55 and 66 respectively. Hubby retired and I work for myself so have a lot of flexibility to travel.

Initially, we loved cruising for the fact that it is the most cost-effective vacation on a per day basis (he's an accountant)... we enjoyed visiting various ports and taking excursions that allowed us to get to know more about the port, nature, and history of the area.

In 2014, we had a couple medical catastrophes so our ability to take excursions was substantially reduced. Now, the ship and our cabin has become that much more important. Health issues aside, we still love cruising and have 7 cruises already booked for 2015... kind of thumbing our noses to illness and taking the YOLO approach.

Here's another Big Welcome to the site. Thank you for introducing yourself to us all. We hope to read more posts from you in the future.

For me, it was always about the itineraries until The Oasis and The Allure came on the scene. Then for me, it was just being on the ship that was important. I tell my husband that we need to take all our cruises now why we still are able to do so.

As you know, many ship excursions are Panoramic ones, which means that they are basically a bus tour. Hopeful, you both can still take these. Calling the shore excursion office at the cruise line you are taking can further help you in choosing a suitable for you abilities tour.

In any case, cruising is wonderful even if you won't be taking any shore excursions. Just not having to cook, clean or drive somewhere for entertainment is enough of a reason to cruise. You get to meet new people, too which is always fun. We now have some wonderful friends that we initially met while traveling. I am looking forward to seeing your postings on the site.

My wife and I always book the handicap cabin. The one thing about cruising is how accessible the ships are to the handicapped. My wife uses a walker, and I got hurt at work three years ago. We travel to enjoy the ship. There is plenty to do despite any physical issues.

We have been cruising every yr since 2000 mostly Europe on Oceania & Regent. My husband (67) has serious issues w/his feet. We still want to cruise so booked a transatlantic to have a lot of sea days. No intense touring. We are trying Celebrity Equinox. Barcelona to ft lauderdale 10/15
