Juneau Helicopter and Dog sledding Excursion

Hi

We plan to take princess cruise in Alaska in July. When we stop by Juneau, we plan to do dog sledding and helicopter tour. I notice the price offered by the cruise VS other local agency are quite a lot, about 60 dollars difference. Does anyone know which I should go for? Book with Princess or local agency. Not sure the difference.

TIA.

There's more to it than just being assured the ship will still be there. Having seen these contracts before, the cruise line demands the concessionaire provide certain things, like heavy insurance. Sometimes even more safety considerations.

There is no "guarantee" in the world worth standing on the pier watching your ship pull away 10 feet from you and...there you is....(although most places there are crew watching the length of the pier to watch for stragglers)...those piers are getting longer and longer seems like...

Good points to ponder, AP.

This is often a big controversy among cruisers. Booking with the cruise line guarantees the shore tour will get you back to the ship on time or the ship will wait if there is a delay of some sort. Most local agencies will get you back and offer a "guarantee" and have good reputations. The question is "are willing to pay the $60 as an insurance the ship will wait" or "are you willing to take the chance"? Please let us know what you decide and how it works out for you, it may help someone else with the same dilemma.
