Have you ever had any unusual occurance happen to you on board a cruise ship - good or bad?

For example, was there a fire on board, did the ship pick up refugees in the water, was a celebrity on board, did you win really big in the casino, etc...

Wow! That was a real accomplishment. I think the most I ever won on the penny slots was . 90 cents.

On one cruise on Song Of America (so you know this was 20 years ago) a gentleman at the next table was sitting with his family having dinner in the MDR and dropped dead face down into his dinner plate. We heard the thud and a scream that made us turn to that table. The ships medical staff was called, cpr was given and the paddles were used, he was carried off on a stretcher. The rest of the cruise a different family was at that table. That was the trip that I learned it is common for people to die on a cruise ship. I was young back then and had never thought of that. It was only my second cruise. I have been lucky enough to never have happen again.

Why yes! After 11 cruises, I actually WON money on the slots in the casino!! $1500 on the penny slots. Darn near fell out of the chair.

We had a situation in port when A small boat kept circling our ship as we attempted to leave. A boat came along with machine guns and scared them off. What are people thinking to pull this stuff.

So true and it affects you in many ways.

Oh my, what a thing to happen on vacation. Why do people have to do this on a cruise ship?

On our most recent cruise, some jack-wagon in a sport helicopter decided it was going to be fun to "buzz" the ship. The pilot came incredibly close to the top deck in the idiotic maneuver.

Although the ship attempted to hail the chopper, there was no response (what a shocker). It disappeared into the vast horizon of the Pacific.

The Captain made an announcement about it and their attempt to contact. In all likelihood it was someone on one of those private luxury yachts with all kinds of adult toys. We were much too far from any landmass which would have allowed for a ground take off.

Needless to say, the ship kept going toward the next port-of-call.

Suicide is an incredibly sad reality. Every passenger and crew member becomes an involuntary survivor of the event.

I was on the Cruise Ship Veendam , a lady jumped over board , the ship turned around , we found her in about a hour , she did not make it....RIP

I seem to be hearing about more and more problems with plumbing issues.
