Gluten Free Menus

Hi All! A community member has a question regarding special menus. What accommodations do cruise lines make for people with celiac disease? I shared our article about gluten-free dining however I wanted to see if anyone has first-hand experience. Yummy

They should tell the cruise line before they go on the ship about needing a Gluten free menu. Years ago, we saild with my sister's friend who is Vegan, and because we told them ahead of time about needing a Vegan menu, they were able to prepare a menu for her every night that met her needs.

Royal Caribbean has always been wonderful to me with my celiac food issues. I am always consulted after my dinner to plan the next evening meal. The only thing I would like to see improvement on is choices of gluten free breads and rolls. I buy exclusively gluten free bread so I know there is a large amount of choices.

One of our table mates on RCI had the issue and staff would ask her after dinner what she wanted tomorrow night so they could make her gluten free meals in the MDR each night. That was on Adventure of the Seas years ago.

My Daughter in law has the problem. on any cruise, the lines have been very good at working with her on the menu.

We have had friends (two different people) on two different occasions one on Carnival and one Princess with special diets including gluten free. On both trips the Maitre d' and/or the chef consulted with the passenger to be sure the dietary needs were met.

Carnival does offer a gluten free menu. A fellow cruiser (with celiac) was at our table and was approached before any ordering by the Maitre d" and his assistant to discuss menu options. Very accommodating.
