Friends in low places

I have lots of" low life" friends on facebook, etc. and various motorcycle clubs. We discuss cruises and benefits. I actually saw this happening on Vista, Breeze, and Dream. VIFP diamond and Platinum gathering, before the pandemic, to get in the gathering, you had to show your invite card, yes they actually check. Now anyone can walk in, just smile say high and go in for free booze. There are so many platinum and diamonds, they have 2 sessions on some ships and my" low life" buddies go to both of them. Now some are doing the diamond gathering. If you want free booze crash a vifp gathering. We only do one session and that is it. Kind of funny Carnival gone lax on this one, lots of booze going out.

All of our functions have been civil. We were on a Journeys cruise that divided the Diamonds into two big “lunches” no pictures with the Captain. I’m glad the functions are back.

On our last 2 cruises on Dream we tried to rsvp, but could not get a hold of anyone, so we just went. A whole lot of Diamond passengers attending. They were rowdy both times ignoring the captain trying to speak. Captain just left. Generally he comes to your table and takes a photo with you (photo is free) but the rowdy diamonds made him upset. On Vista the diamonds were civil

Speaking of beancounters, for the diamond function you do have to RSVP so they have a count for attendance. If the number is significantly different they will probably ask to see you S&S card.

The beancounters thank y'all for helping on their next project...in court, there's protections against self-incrimination...but in cyber......welllllllllll.......................

I noticed that on our last cruise. It was in the theater and we were a little late arriving, probably the last ones in. Lots of drinks, beer, soda and water on the table outside. A couple of staff members told us to help ourselves to drinks without asking for our invitations. Kind of surprising given all the belt-tightening occurring lately.

I’m guessing if the crowds get too large at the Diamond function, Carnival will catch on. But for the Platinum/Diamond party, there’s no way to monitor the number of people. Free drinks is a great motivation to “crash” these functions.
