Cruising in my room by myself

I have done over 15 cruises, and always had someone in my room with me. I will be with 6 other family members, but the cousin that was to room with me, because of health issues, she will not be able to go. My question, have you or have you heard of anyone that planned on having someone in the room, and wound up by yourself/themselves? How did that work? In other words, was it hard to be by yourself, or did you/they like it better with the room all to yourself?

And you should have fun showing your friend 'the ropes' of cruising. It should be a win-win situation. Happy

Glad you were able to work it out to your satisfaction.

I just want to thank those of you who responded to my question, as I was able to get someone (much younger, but a nice person that I know, and has never cruised before) to be in the room with me.

My first two cruises were solo and i actually loved it! HATED the Single Supplement they punish us with.

But, it was nice, and pretty calming not to share the space.

I have had a cabin by myself often. I like it, nice and quiet, no sharing a bathroom and able to listen to the music I like, but then I live alone so I'm used to it. I have also been informed that I snore so I would not subject others to that.

In reality, you will not be alone much, All you do in your cabin is sleep and shower. The rest of the time you will be with your family enjoying the ship.

I appreciate everyone that responded to my question. As I said, "if" I don't find anyone (still working on it) to be in the room with me, this will be a new experience, but I know I will survive. It is just nice when having someone else in the room, to see how I look/dress and make suggestions if necessary one way or another, as that is what good friends do when ask for their opinion. Happy

I have never had a cruise room to myself but I have traveled in the US and to Europe alone and it was wonderful having a room all to myself.

I would think that the answer to your question would be entirely based on the individual's personality. Consequently, there is no "right" answer.

If one were an introvert, they may be more comfortable being a solo in their cabin.

If an extrovert, they may prefer to go out and mingle with others and spend less time in their cabin.

We have a friend that always books by herself. Even when she talks someone into joining her on the cruise. When we travel as part of a group, she says it gives her some nice quiet time.
