Cruise line and ship recommendation

The wife and I took a cruise on NCL aprox 20+ years ago to Southern Caribbean. We are looking to do another cruise with our 20+ year old daughters (2). We are not big into the party scene but want a luxury feel for a fair price. Thinking of going in Feb of ‘23 for around 6-9 day Western Caribbean trip? Wife has some health issues at times so a comfortable and spacious room with balcony is important. Currently looking at NCL Prima, Celebrity Beyond or Apex, or a newer RC. Budget up to $10,000. Also open to good cruise travel agent to work with. Open to thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!

Since you're looking for quality basics without the party scene, I would recommend Holland America. Just keep in mind, your grown children will most likely be the youngest/near youngest on the ship.

HAL ships are not mega-ships with water parks - they're built for cruising. :)

Keeping their target passenger in mind, cabins have large showers, not the tiny linen closet sized showers on most other cruise lines.

There are some great itineraries to the area you want to go and your budget will allow you some very nice accommodations. I highly recommend the true aft balconies for best views with decks 4 or 5 (depending on the ship) being the largest. Port side aft on 4 has 2 cabins with double size balconies that are awesome!

Enjoy your cruise!!

WIth a budget of $10,000, for 4 people, You could have a pair of very nice adjoining Balcony rooms on any of the Newer RCI Ships, and still have a fair amount left over. If you want to go suite, the prices escalate VERY quickly.

by “ mentioned above “ they mean my post Big Smile

agreed

Lynn is beautiful

Missed this when it was first posted. From the OPs brief description I'd say Celebrity, but a good Travel Advisor - like mentioned above - will get a lot more info to make sure they get on the best cruise for them!

Of the lines you listed I am a Celebrity guy.

from my ruise experience all of those lines do a great job. just depends on if you like the itinerary or not.

Welcome aboard No1dan2001.

Evening! I have been on a few NCL cruises as I use the solo cabins (Studios) and I'm scheduled for the Jan 15th Western Caribbean out of Canaveral on the NCL Prima. The ship is brand new and although it is a different format/layout than the previous classes, I think it will be great. (From my research) They went with a minimalistic but elegant design with larger cabins and a focus on the external deck (forgot the name) rather than a central pool-based top deck. The food hall looks great. I have heard folks are unhappy with the venue sizes for the comedy club and other late night events, but the ship just made it to the water so im giving them the benefit of the doubt to move venues to the theater if necessary. I have been on several NCL and a Carnival, and until I have a bad experience I'll stay with Norwegian. I was on the Encore in Jan of 22 and even though we were on reduced occupancy it was a great time. At 34 I'm not interested in the party scene anymore but I really enjoy the general atmosphere of NCL.

I've sailed with all 3 companies. I hated NCL, but love RC and Celebrity.

As far as booking, look up "Vacations To Go".
