How long is the cruise? Also, think of what the weather will be like when you cruise.

Course, AB really has it simple...he just packs everything he owns into a big suitcase...when the drawers/closets are empty he's done (j/k!!!) unfortunately I at least make the attempt to pack less and fail miserably every time. Yes, we get free laundry, so certain items can be left at home...but we're still bringing home things we never wore...so why did we bring em in the first place?...its a chronic, incurable disease...lots of fluids help.....there really are bigger problems in life.....fluids help with that too....(except why so defensive about Hawaiian shirts?...I got a few....but sometimes they don't actually get worn!!! bwahahahah)

Depends upon what you're tastes are and what you're going to do. Some people can take a month long cruise with just a backpack full of clothing. Others, like Yankee47 and myself tend to overpack every time. Will you want to "dress to the 9's" on the "Cruise Elegant" nights? If so, then pack a suit or jacket & tie & dress shoes. Going to do a lot of sightseeing on your shore excursions? Pack some decent shorts (cargos are my favorite) and comfortable shoes for walking.

Here's my current clothing list for our 8 day Bahamian cruise out of Mobile next month (subject to revision)

3 pair shorts+1 bathing suit + 4 tee shirts

2 pair dockers (dinner wear) + 3 Hawaiian shirts (dinner wear AND I happen to like them)

2 polo shirts +1 set sweatshirt & sweatpants (doubles as pajamas)

1 pair casual shoes +1 pair sandals (I wear tennis shoes when traveling)

An appropriate amount of underwear and socks

Since we live in the upper Midwest, when traveling I'll be wearing jeans, a hooded sweatshirt over a sweater over a long sleeve Henley over a tee shirt. I'll be shedding clothing as we head further south I have also worn some of these items during some windy or chilly sea days.

Also remember, the ship has a laundry service, so you can get your clothes cleaned if necessary.

We cruise out of NO alot, and have made that run many times..the good ol open ocean eh? depends on lil thing like ......the wind...and how fast the ship is moving...you'll learn that "wind speed" and "wind across the deck" are two completely different things...and, where you happen to be relative to it...you got the right idea with your mini list..I always liked hoodies myself....it could be blowy, but if you're in the "lee" of something to block it, you wouldn't even notice it......or, sometimes your cabin balcony (if you have one, could be uninhabitable....not going to talk about rain...or the occasional storm......which they try to avoid (without burning tooooo much fuel).....after skeighty eight cruises, we still pack too much, (a common affliction) and whatever you wear down to the ship, or in the terminal, nobody cares...and....whatever you wear onboard.....nobody cares....and despite all the dress codes supposedly in effect, I can tell you nobody cares very much either...unfortunately...comfort is the name of this game, allowing for a bit of wind, a bit of rain...a bit of chill....not having the right clothes and needing them is......a PITA.....good luck....
