Cruise Lines Eliminate COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements & Pre-Cruise Testing
Updated December 19, 2022 - Multiple cruise lines have announced they will eliminate COVID-19 vaccine requirements and pre-cruise COVID testing requirements later this summer as a part of their health and safety protocols.
Norwegian Cruise Line was the first line to announce they would eliminate the COVID vaccine requirement, starting Sept. 3. Since this time, most major cruise lines have also revised their vaccination and testing policies.
The following are the current vaccine and testing policies by cruise line:
Azamara Cruises
Starting December 1, Azamara Cruises will no longer require proof of vaccination for sailings starting and ending in the U.S. or sailings starting and ending in Europe. All other sailings require proof of vaccination and booster until further notice. At this time, Azamara will continue its policy of not requiring a negative COVID-19 test prior to boarding unless this is required by local country regulations.

Carnival Cruise Line
As of October 25, 2022, Carnival Cruise Line has the following COVID protocols in place for most savings (excluding voyages from Australia):
Cruises 15 Nights or Less

Guests are considered fully vaccinated if they have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the sailing day (not counting embarkation day).
- Testing: Although not required for either vaccinated or unvaccinated guests, we encourage all guests 5 years and older to take a pre-cruise test within three days of their cruise.
Cruises 16 Nights or More
- Vaccinations: All guests, age 18 and older, must be vaccinated, and boosted if they are more than 6 months past the last dose of their initial vaccine series. Unvaccinated guests will need to apply for a vaccine exemption when we are ready to start accepting requests for 2023.
- Testing: Guests ages 5 years and older have to present a PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days before sailing (unsupervised self-tests are not accepted).

Enough already - COVID is not going anywhere - people are still going to get it but in the meantime can the cruiselines just stop? I don't even need it to get on a closed in AIRPLANE!

Just stop! Let us get on with our lives. WE DON'T CARE ANY MORE!
Posted by usernamechuck
I wouldn’t go on a cruise that didn’t have this sort of requirement. So no NCR for me I guess.

" WE DON'T CARE ANY MORE!" Who's "we"? I actually do care. I believe people do care. 'We' want to be safe when 'we' travel. Airplanes are not cruise ships, as you're only on a plane for hours, not days. I prefer pre-testing as it allows us to know we are safe and won't endanger others. Have a nice weekend! Peace!

Covid is here to stay. It will become part of our DNA. I am sick and tired of all of this testing. It doesn’t do any good as people still get it even after testing negative. If you are vaccinated and boostered and use common sense that is as good as it gets. If you want to test and you want to wear a mask and if you want to live like you are in a third world country then feel free to do so, but foist your paranoia on everybody else. No one is going to force you to take a cruise and you can get Covid from being on an airplane too.

I too am sick of the restrictions and rules. Enough of the control on a virus that is here to stay.

Come on Royal, enough of the testing. Your making us spend money that can be better spent in our lives or on your ship. We travel on planes and walk around every day in life now and don't need the constant testing. Covid is in the category of flu's or other categories of sickness as even the CDC has gotten rid of the "rough" rules. Stop it already and let us get back to our lives and quit even talking about this thing.

Would love to take a cruise again, but not until all of these control measures are lifted. Not paying all of that money for the "priviledge" of sailing with a cruise company that tells me I have to "show my papers" and put substances into my body, up my nose that I do not agree with...When enough people walk away and refuse to spend their tourist dollars here, this will all stop... Follow the money...

Why not run a 100% vaccinated and tested cruise for those people who need that, and a cruise where vaccination and testing are not required?
Posted by jamescruiser
Those cruise companies that require vaccinations are not following the so-called "science" - you can be vaccinates twice, be boosted 2 or 3 times and still catch Covid or transmit is
Posted by Cruiser456789
Won't be cruising until all requirements are dropped!
Posted by swoodard7
So done! Especially with Viking! Waited years to save for river cruise and they are one of very few requiring vax still. So frustrated!
Posted by JamesDean
Those cruise brands that still require vaccinations are not following the science - you can be vaccinated, twice, you can be boosted, 2-3 times and still catch this virus! Most people will not cruise on these ships that require the jab, period,
Posted by CASunnies
Ditto to Swoodard7. I've been waiting and waiting for Viking to come into the present, but they're still stuck in the early times of covid. Booked on another, premium, river cruise where the fact that I'm willing to spend my $$ and time with them is appreciated.

😟🤦🏿♂️ Vaccines prevent you from getting hospitalized oe very sick; unless you listen to conspiracy stories.

Went on a Viking cruise in 2019. It was great, but until they stop the "must be vaccinated" nonsense, will refuse to travel with them. Come on Viking, and drop the vaccine requirements.
Posted by Oncecruised
In spite of all the evidence finally being released that the so-called vaccines neither prevent transmission or infection, these stupid cruise lines are still going with the "science." I have stopped contributing to the progressive/liberal causes I once supported and would never go on a Viking cruise because of their adamant stance on authoritarianism.

Old news.

Really! Covid is here to stay, nothing more than a cold/maybe a few days at home these days, maybe if you have comorbidities, you should definitely protect yourself with the shot, (not a true vaccine), but not force it on others that don't believe they need it. Was looking forward to a Viking cruise for my 40th Anniversary, bummed about that.
