Norwegian Cruise Line to Eliminate COVID Requirements for All Guests
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that it will officially lift COVID-19 vaccination, testing, and masking requirements for all guests beginning tomorrow, October 4, 2022. This is the first major cruise line to announce it will discontinue requirements for all guests.
The company cited the positive progress in the public health environment as rationale for updating its protocols. As such, Nowegian Cruise Line will remove vaccine, testing, and mask COVID protocol (unless specified in the countries which a sailing visits).
“Health and safety are always our first priority; in fact, we were the health and safety leaders from the very start of the pandemic,” said Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive officer. “Many travelers have been patiently waiting to take their long-awaited vacation at sea and we cannot wait to celebrate their return.”
Norwegian Cruise Line will continue to follow all health and safety requirements in the countries that it visits. This includes vaccine, pre-cruise testing, and mask-wearing requirements. For all country-specific travel requirements, guests sailing with Norwegian should visit www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country.
This past August, Norwegian became the first cruise line to announce they would eliminate the COVID vaccine requirement for all guests. Since September 3, 2022, they have welcomed guests of all ages back onboard, regardless of their vaccination status.
At this time no other cruise line has announced additional changes to their cruise COVID protocols. However, the majority of all lines have removed their vaccine requirements and modified pre-cruise testing policies.
If you are cruising soon we recommend that you reach out to your cruise line or travel advisor to ensure you meet all requirements prior to sailing.
This is a breaking news story. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
