Second Crystal Ship Restarts Operations
Luxury operator Crystal is today celebrating the inaugural voyage of its second ship Crystal Symphony. The vessel is back on the high seas following an extensive refurbishment, sailing from Athens to Istanbul.
Last month Crystal saw the return of Crystal Serenity, after an extensive refurbishment following the cruise line’s purchase by A&K Travel Group in summer 2022. In conjunction with Crystal Sernity’s return, the cruise line announced its long-term plans to introduce four new vessels to its fleet - two ocean ships and two expedition vessels.

“We are so proud that Crystal Symphony has officially joined Crystal Serenity back in the water, signaling an exciting new chapter for Crystal – two ships refurbished and back in service in under a year is completely unprecedented,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group. “The ship’s exceptional enhancements reflect our unwavering commitment to providing guests with inspiration and enrichment as they sail to the globe’s most coveted destinations.”
About Crystal Symphony
Crystal Symphony has the capacity to hold 606 passengers. The ship has nearly one staff member per guest and an 84.2 cu. ft. space-to-guest ratio.
According to the cruise line, the ship’s “re-entry to service marks an impressive feat; in just one year, and on schedule, Crystal revitalized two ships and returned more than 80% of the line’s beloved crew.”
In its renovations, Crystal Symphony received larger, revamped suites, elevated dining options, as well as more expansive public spaces.
Crystal collaborated with cruise ship architectural firm GEM for suite and stateroom upgrades on Crystal Symphony. All staterooms have been redesigned with palates of neutral and pastel tones, reminiscent of the ocean. Two new guest room categories are now offered - the Jr. Crystal Penthouse Suite and Single Guest Room with Ocean View (for solo travelers). The cruise line has also added more availability to the popular Sapphire Suite category.
Guests can choose from 10 distinct dining options on Crystal Symphony - Umi Uma (the only Nobu dining concept at sea), Osteria D’Ovidio (serving traditional Italian), Waterside Restaurant (main dining room, The Bistro (a modern café and coffee bar), the Trident Grill (classic grill foods), Scoops Gelato Barn (authentic Italian gelato), The Vintage Room (grilled foods paired with excellent wines), Tastes Kitchen & Barn (serving globally inspired cuisine), and Marketplace (the buffet-style dining venue).
Crystal Symphony’s onboard wellness offerings include full-sized paddle tennis and pickleball courts, as well as a revamped fitness center. The cruise line’s new spa concept, AurÅra, offers a new experience and design. The extensive spa menu offers more treatments including signature facials, massage treatments, and a full-service Salon.
Following Crystal Symphony’s inaugural voyage from Athens to Istanbul this week, the ship will sail eastward to visit Santorini, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, and Mumbai. For the remainder of 2023, the ship will sail in the South Pacific with stops in Sydney, Auckland, Papua New Guinea, and Bali.
Bookings are now open for all Crystal Symphony sailings through 2024.
