Royal Caribbean Unveils Entertainment Lineup for Icon of the Seas

Royal Caribbean shared details on the entertainment features coming to Icon of the Seas. The guests will be able to enjoy these exciting new offerings when the vessel makes its debut in January 2024. 

Icon of the Sea’s entertainment lineup will take place among the Royal Caribbean’s four signature “stages” – air, ice, water, and theater. Guests of all ages will delight at the variety of productions and performances that will come to life. More than 75 world-class performers will be in the spotlight at the AquaDome (with its next-level AquaTheater), the Royal Theater, and the Absolute Zero ice arena. 

Beyond the stage, Icon of the Seas will feature 50 live musicians and comedians, performing at venues such as the new Lou’s Jazz ‘n Blues, Dueling Pianos, and returning guest favorites venues Schooner Bar and Point & Feather English Pub. 

“At the heart of so many of the memories made on Royal Caribbean vacations is a combination of live entertainment that’s unmatched in the vacation industry, and we’re taking it to the next level on Icon of the Seas,” said Nick Weir, senior vice president, entertainment, Royal Caribbean International. "If you’re a fan of full-scale productions on Broadway and the West End or live music and comedy in hot spots like Las Vegas, Icon has it all for every mood and style in one vacation – alongside never-before-seen twists only found on Royal Caribbean.”

Following is a look at the show highlights coming to Icon of the Seas by performance venue. 

AquaDome

  • “Aqua Action!” – This high-octane production combines technological and physical feats. Olympic-level high divers, skateboarders, aerialists, slackliners, and synchronized swimmers will come together for a show featuring a double 3D flying system and robots doubling as diving boards and set creators. This experience will ‘blur the lines between live-action movie and theatrical experience’. 
  • “Pirates vs. Mermaids” – This show features a storyline of fairytale characters with humor for both adults and kids. Pirates and mermaids go tail to toe to show off their greatest feats. 

Royal Theater

  • “The Wizard of Oz” – Royal Caribbean will be the first cruise line to debut the classic tale of Dorothy’s adventures to Oz. The show will be a twist on the classic story, perfect for guests of all generations. The production features characters soaring above the audience with a revolutionary set design, more than 600 costume elements, and an original score performed by a 16-piece orchestra.
  • “SHOWBAND! Live. Music. Now.” – This show for music lovers will feature 16 talented musicians playing chart-topping songs. The venue’s cutting-edge technology combined with live music will create a full all-out sensory experience.

Absolute Zero Ice Arena

  • “Starburst: Elemental Beauty” – This show is an artistic interpretation of the periodic table of elements. The Olympic-level ice cast will wow audiences with the choreography of tricks and high jumps. All of this is made possible by the new oval-shaped design of the ice arena, a big step from the cruise line’s introduction of the first ice rink at sea in 1999. 
  • “Once Upon a Time: The King’s Royal Ball” – This family-friendly production combines famous fairytale superstars to take guests on a nostalgic ride on ice. 

Beyond the Stage

  • Nine hotspots on Icon of the Seas are an ode to live music playing the best in rock, pop, Caribbean beats, Latin music, and more, 
  • The Manhattan-inspired Comedy Club is the ship’s destination for laughs, with three comedians performing adult-friendly comedy shows. 
  • “SHIPS AHOY!” – This production will see scalawags, swashbucklers, and sailors of all types will take over the reimagined Royal Promenade for a show of skills and battle of the wits. 

​​Icon of the Seas will officially launch on January 27, 2024. The highly anticipated ship is the first of the cruise line’s Icon Class of vessels and will offer several industry firsts and returning Royal Caribbean guest-favorite activities and venues. 

The ship will homeport from PortMiami through 2025, sailing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries to The Bahamas, Basseterre, Roatan, Cozumel, Perfect Day at CocoCay. Bookings are open now.
