Royal Caribbean International has announced that one of their “smart ships,” Quantum of the Seas, will be sailing from the Pacific Northwest for the first time in May 2021.

Marking the line’s biggest Alaska season yet with four ships, Quantum will make her summer home in Seattle, operating 7-night cruises departing on Mondays. Her sister ship Ovation of the Seas will continue to sail from the same port, departing on Fridays. Radiance and Serenade of the Seas complete Royal Caribbean’s 2021 Alaska lineup, with Radiance departing from Vancouver and Seward to do 7-night one-way cruises, and Serenade operating 7-night voyages roundtrip from Vancouver.

Multigenerational families will have plenty of opportunities to make memories during Quantum’s Alaska voyages, both onboard and ashore, with some highlights including sailing through the Endicott Arm Fjord, kayaking in the Sitka Sound, panning for gold in Juneau, and taking in the stunning natural beauty of the 49th state.

Onboard, passengers can enjoy unique venues such as Two70, a multipurpose space with floor-to-ceiling windows that transforms into a theater at night. The high-tech lounge is known for its Roboscreens — six 7+ foot tall screens controlled by robotic arms that fuse performance art and technology for immersive, live theatrical performances. New to Quantum of the Seas is a signature game that travelers can play right on their smartphones. Expedition Two70 is a custom, room-scale augmented reality experience that transports players to a different world through action-packed challenges.

Other highlights of Quantum include the North Star observation capsule that climbs high above the ship, surfing and skydiving simulators, the Bionic Bar where robots serve as bartenders, and the SeaPlex — home to bumper cars, trapeze school, roller skating, and more. When it’s time to eat, passengers won’t go hungry! The ship has 18 dining options, including imaginative cuisine from Wonderland and authentic Italian fare at Jamie’s Italian.

Alaska 2021 cruises aboard Quantum of the Seas are now open for booking.
