Carnival Cruise Line today announced details of a bar and lounge venue on its newest ship Carnival Celebration. Named ‘The Golden Jubilee’, this space will be designed to represent the evolution of Carnival’s ships as the brand celebrates its 50th birthday this year.

The Golden Jubilee will be located on Deck 6, the same spot as The Brass Magnolia on sister ship Mardi Gras. The new area features an eye-catching bar which is set under two-deck-high ceilings. The space will include reproductions of blueprints depicting the evolution of Carnival’s Fun Ships, including the hand-drawn designs by architect Joe Farcus.

A number of memorabilia pieces and artwork from Carnival’s earlier vessels will be featured in The Golden Jubilee. Some of these include:

  • An original 17’ x 7’ full-height etched glass, nickel, and mahogany partition wall with 24 windowpanes from TSS Mardi Gras’ casino.
  • Chairs recreated from TSS Carnivale’s Riverboat Lounge paired with cocktail tables from Carnival Fascination’s Hollywood Boulevard, adorned with signed sketches from caricaturist Al Hirschfeld.
  • Original decorative etchings of musical instruments as well as polished brass and glass nightclub doors from TSS Carnivale.
  • A bronze statue of Carnival Cruise Line founder Ted Arison and Finnish shipbuilder Martin Saarikangas, that was given as a gift from the Kvaerner Masa-Yards to the line upon delivery of Carnival Sensation in 1993.

“The Golden Jubilee is the ultimate nod to our 50th Birthday – a nostalgic but timeless lounge where our guests can re-live and connect with Carnival’s yesteryears while enjoying a glamorous and elegant space that embraces our current Carnival style,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

The space features a number of design elements that honor Carnival’s storied past. Floor tiles surrounding the bar are a maple leaf pattern, reminiscent of the Grand Ballroom on TSS Mardi Gras. Mirror inserts will be integrated into the bar front and bottle display that are inspired by the etched glass inserts of TSS Carnivale’s lobby doors. Carnival will use round windows in the area, a nod to the portholes on the line’s original ships.

Even the bar offerings have been crafted to pay homage to Carnival’s history. Menus will feature the line’s original logo, complete with the most popular cocktails of the line since 1972. Selections include drinks like the Harvey Wallbanger and Tom Collins.

Next to The Golden Jubilee will be a promenade that features a space to display Carnival’s history. Some special pieces in this area will include:

  • A gallery installation of six decorative porthole windows featuring 3-D dioramas for each of the five decades of Carnival’s history, with one representing the company today and the future.
  • An original vintage engine telegraph from 1955 installed on TSS Carnivale which is permanently set to the ‘Full Ahead’ sign.
  • Coins for every ship in the fleet will be embedded into the floor design.
  • A TSS Carnivale model, recovered from MS Inspiration, at the entrance to the Carnivale Restaurant. There will also be a 12-foot-long ship model of the new Carnival Celebration.

The Golden Jubilee is part of the final to-be-announced zone of Carnival Celebration. This past February, Carnival announced the first of five zones on the ship: 820 Biscayne, Celebration Central, The Ultimate Playground, Summer Landing, and Lido. Carnival plans to share all details and the name of the fifth zone at a later date

Carnival Celebration makes its inaugural sailing this November from its new home at Terminal F at PortMiami. Bookings for 2022 and 2023 cruises are now open.
