New Princess Cruises Ship Sun Princess Makes North American Debut

This past week, Princess Cruises’ new Sphere Class ship Sun Princess debuted in North America, arriving in Fort Lauderdale after its inaugural Mediterranean season.

Sun Princess will offer a series of seven-day Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises, roundtrip from Fort. Lauderdale from October 14 through early April 2025.

“As Sun Princess begins cruising to the Caribbean from Port Everglades, we look forward to introducing new guests to the most impressive, luxurious and stunning Love Boat ever created,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises President. “We are proud to be home-porting this remarkable ship in Fort. Lauderdale and extend our deep appreciation to Port Everglades for their ongoing partnership.”

The 77,882-ton, 4,300-guest Sun Princess launched in the Mediterranean last February. Guests have been delighted by the ship’s innovative design, culinary experiences, entertainment, advanced technology, and more. New for the inaugural Caribbean season, Sun Princess has introduced the Sanctuary Collection –a luxury retreat with, premium amenities, lush accommodations, and all-inclusive offerings. 

Guests sailing on Sun Princess can look forward to its 30 restaurant and bar venues. Among the highlights include high-end dining experiences Spellbound by Magic Castle, Love by Britto, Makoto Ocean, The Butcher’s Block by Dario, The Catch by Rudi, Love Line Premium Liquors Collection, Pizza with Tony Gemignani, and Good Spirits at Sea with Rob Floyd. 

The ship also features showstopping entertainment at its Princess Arena (the most technologically advanced theater at sea) and new space The Dome. Sun Princess also features the cruise line’s largest casino, a two-story Lotus Spa, and an expanded retail space with over 200 brands.

Sun Princess is the first LNG (liquefied natural gas) vessel for Princess, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and features ingenious energy recovery systems for eco-conscious cruising.
