Attention adventurers and landlubbers! Brace yourselves for the most groundbreaking travel announcement of the century – the launch of Rover of the Land, the world’s first-ever land-based cruiser! The concept of cruising has been taken to the land, with a modified cruise ship that operates on traditional roads.

Picture this: Instead of being confined to a floating vessel, sailing from ocean-based ports, you will embark on a journey across America’s breathtaking landscapes, majestic mountains, and serene valleys. No more worrying about rough seas, just smooth roads and scenic routes as Rover of the Land travels across the United States.

Following is what guests can expect on a land-based adventure with Rover of the Land.

Onboard Offerings

Rover of the Land offers many of the same amenities guests can enjoy on a traditional ocean-based cruise ship, including onboard activities, theaters, multiple dining venues, and much more.

There are numerous options for stateroom accommodations to suit a variety of price points and traveling party sizes. Interior rooms (including a common gathering area) are equipped with a digital ‘window’ displaying the trees, roads, or whatever else makes up the scenery of where Rover of the Land is traveling through at that time. Land View staterooms include a window for guests to observe the traffic and exterior sites. Balcony staterooms come with a table/chairs set up outside for guests to take in the fresh air and the scenery as they enjoy the ride between destinations.

Guests looking for the utmost luxurious accommodations can select a suite in the Premium Country Club area, which is the ‘land ship-with-in-a-ship’ section that includes access to a special dining room, lounge area, and dedicated 24-hour concierge.

For onboard activities, guests can check out Rover of the Land’s multiple pools, zip-line, waterslides, go-kart track, shopping arcade, spa, bumper cars, ice-skating rink, and F1 simulator. An onboard casino is available when traveling through states/regions where gambling is permissible.

Guests can enjoy the numerous entertainment options, like live music, in many public venues. Get your dancing shoes on and rock out to soloists and bands playing tunes like ‘Life is a Highway,’ ‘Drive My Car,’ ‘On the Road Again,’ or ‘Highway to the Danger Zone.’ Also on the agenda for each voyage are nighttime poolside outdoor movie showings with films like ‘‘Cars’, ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’, ‘Baby Driver’, and ‘Ford vs. Ferrari’. Nightly productions will occur in Rover of the Land’s theatre (named the Parkway Playhouse) with shows including ‘Grease’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, and ‘Back to the Future’.

During At-Road days (when Rover of the Land drives from destination to destination), guests can enjoy a range of programming, such as dance parties, lectures, demonstrations, and more. Family-friendly offerings include traditional road trip activities like the license plate game, car bingo, 21 questions, and the counting game.

Rover of the Land is complete with traditional lifeboats, which are for authentic styling. However, these "lifeboats" contain cars guests can rent for shore excursions using a new swipe-and-go technology.

Itineraries and Excursions

Perhaps the most unique aspect of the Rover of the Land experience is that cruisers will be able to explore unique and exciting destinations that are typically impossible to reach on a traditional cruise. Guests will be able to venture to inland “ports” near iconic attractions and cultural landmarks. Exploring charming towns, vibrant cities, sprawling fields, and the picturesque countryside of America has never been more accessible.

Each stop on Rover of the Land promises a unique and unforgettable experience. The best part is that guests will no longer have to travel from coastal port cities to reach inland excursions since they can disembark right at the excursion destination. Rover of the Land drops guests off right at the site.

Expertly guided land excursions will allow guests to see iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and natural wonders. Select itineraries will call on historic sites like Gettysburg in Virginia or The Alamo in San Antonio. Some may visit landmarks such as the Space Needle in Seattle, the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles, or the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Famous National Parks are also on various itineraries, including visits to The Grand Canyon, Badlands in South Dakota, and Bryce Canyon in Utah.

Get your adrenaline pumping with a wide range of land cruise adventure activities like hiking in Yosemite National Park, biking through Big Sur, skiing in Vail, or snorkeling in Key West. Cultural attractions like the Smithsonian Institute, Broadway plays, or the San Diego Zoo, as well as theme park visits to Disney World or Dollywood, are dotted around the itineraries of Rover of the Sea for eager land cruising patrons. Whether you're a thrill-seeker or a nature enthusiast, there's something for everyone to enjoy when you are on Rover of the Land

Dining

One of the perks of this land-based vacation on Rover of the Land is the opportunity for gourmet roadside dining and locally sourced food, as the itinerary is constantly on the move.

Rover of the Land will make stops at popular eateries or gourmet food trucks along the way, allowing guests to indulge in some of the best cuisine available in the country. They can savor the flavors of local delicacies while soaking in the ambiance of charming towns and villages along the way, be it a BBQ stand in Tennessee or a lobster roll shack in Maine.

Rover of the Land’s dining team will easily source regional staples from the locales that the ship is traveling through with a new program to have catering provided from some of the most famous restaurants around the country. One night, the main dining room may source gumbo and beignets from New Orleans and, several nights later, serve Chicago-style deep-dish pizza and hot dogs.

What makes every road trip complete? A stop at a convenience store for snacks. Rover of the Land will have an on-site mini-mart selling every chip, snack, sweet treat, or drink you can think of. When you pay, pick up your Powerball or MegaMillions lotto ticket (only sold when driving in select states),

Environmentally Friendly Travel

Rover of the Land has been designed with several sustainable travel practices to minimize environmental impact. It is an electric-powered craft with many elements that reduce its carbon footprint as it travels across the country.

VR Rentals

For those skeptical about this land-based experience who feel they will miss seeing the ocean waves, marine wildlife, and beaches provided by a traditional cruise, Apple Headsets will be available to rent to transport you to a more tropical environment. Rent a device, and immerse yourself virtually into locales like Bali, the Bahamas, Hawaii, and more.

Editor’s Note: While we wish Rover of the Land were a real concept, please remember that today is April Fool’s Day. We have no inside information or knowledge that land-based cruises will become a reality.
