Return to Cruising Ship Guide: Disney Wonder
When is Disney Wonder slated to resume operations?
Disney Wonder resumed cruising on October 1, 2021. The ship is sailing several 3- and 4-night Mexican Riviera itineraries in October and November, roundtrip from San Diego. These cruises will spend one day in Cabo San Lucas (Mexico) or Ensenada (Mexico) and include several fun at-sea days.
Guests 12 years of age and older sailing with Disney Cruise Line must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To sail, all Guests (adults and children, regardless of age) must upload their proof of vaccination on the Safe Passage website by Inspire Diagnostics. Inspire is Disney Cruise Line’s third-party partner for COVID-19 vaccination verification.
To comply with guidance from the CDC, all guests (regardless of age and vaccination status) are required to take a COVID-19 test administered by Inspire Diagnostics at the terminal before boarding.
Cruising on Disney Wonder? Here’s our guide to everything you need to know before you board.
About the Ship: Disney Wonder launched in 1999 and was refurbished in 2016. The Wonder is Disney's second cruise ship and still a crown jewel in the line's fleet. The vessel is remarkably family-friendly, catering to kids of all ages and the young at heart. At full capacity (before any COVID restrictions), this medium-sized ship can accommodate up to 1,754 total passengers and offers 877 cabins.
Activities + Entertainment: Anyone ages 0 - 100+ is sure to find something to do on the Disney Wonder! One of the most significant highlights of sailing with Disney is the numerous opportunities for character meet and greets with Mickey, Minnie, and the gang. Other awesome activities onboard include top-notch kids and teens programming, three pools, a water slide, the Marvel Super Hero Academy, and Senses Salon + Spa. In addition, there are a number of special spaces for adults to relax on Wonder, such as an adult-only pool and several fun lounges and bars.
Disney Cruise Line is known for its spectacular entertainment, bringing animated classics to life through live performances. Live shows on Disney Wonder include ‘Frozen - A Musical Spectacular’ and ‘Disney Dreams - An Enchanted Classic’. Another highlight you will find during sailing are the spectacular ‘Fireworks at Sea’ shows, featuring fireworks illuminating the night sky accompanied by Disney songs.
Dining: In a unique twist to onboard dining, Disney cruisers are assigned a waiter at the beginning of their sailing. Passengers and crew are then rotated through the ship's three themed main dining areas during the cruise, making it easy to experience different dining experiences.
Disney Wonder’s three main dining experiences include an under the sea-themed restaurant named Triton’s, an innovative dinner show at the Animator’s Palate, and the southern-inspired Tiana’s Place. For passengers looking for a more casual venue, check out Daisy’s-de-Lites or Pinnochio’s Pizza. Adults looking for a date night to themselves, Palo offers elegant Italian-inspired dishes and an extensive wine list.
Pricing: Sailings are booking up fast with Disney Wonder’s return to cruising in the Mexican Riviera! Right now, you can expect basic accommodations to start at around $200 per night. Want a little extra space to spread out? We recommend booking a balcony cabin which currently starts at $230 per night, with prices going up depending on size and location.
What to Expect at Embarkation & Onboard Protocols
Before embarkation, guests ages 12+ will be required to present proof of vaccination prior to boarding Disney Wonder. Guests ages 11 and younger will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than three days before the cruise. In addition, all guests will be required to undergo a rapid PCR COVID-19 test at the terminal prior to boarding the ship. Each guest will also need to complete an online check-in form at least 30-days prior to cruising, including selecting a port arrival time.
Guided by recommendations from the CDC, Disney Cruise Line reduced onboard guest capacity and incorporated additional health and safety-related measures on all of its ships. While sailing expect to find additional hand sanitizer stations, markers for social distancing, enhanced cleaning procedures, and physical barriers such as plexiglass.
All guests ages two and up (including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19) are required to wear face masks indoors, except in their staterooms or actively eating or drinking. Face coverings are not required outdoors while onboard the ship. However, masks may be required in ports of call based on local government requirements.

By far the best cruise I’ve ever been on. Service was like nothing I’ve ever experienced, the whole week felt like a dream! - moreno4211
Great cruise overall. Perfect for families. Disney always puts on great shows, and the staff was incredible. My kids loved the kid’s clubs. - SocalFam
Had an amazing time! Very relaxing! Loved the smaller ship as it felt more intimate and less crowded! - Angela1202
This was a wonderful getaway cruise for two adults with no children. Even our second-seating dining table only included one couple also without children. They enjoyed this cruise as much as we did, proving you don’t have to be a kid or be with kids to enjoy a Disney Cruise. - lamarkel
