Sigrun - A Valkyrie Sigrun is the leader of a band of nine Valkyries, the horse-riding women who descend upon battles to decide which soldiers die and which live. She dies from sadness after her lover Helgi is slain by her brother Dagr, and is later reborn as a Valkyrie herself.

The expectation for a Viking River cruise was it was tuned for a older crowd which was the case. We may do another in the future but will likely stick with our other brands ocean cruises.

The sail along the Rhine looking at the many castles on each side of the ship was a highlight. The cruise director provided commentary about the castles and gave us a map identifying what we saw.

This was the greatest cruise of our lifetime. We felt fully immersed in the experience. I can’t recommend Viking enough. It is worth the cost!

Viking is all about experience the ports of call. Do all of it! We went to every included walking tour, tried the food in every port, and made a point to speak to locals and experience it all. If you are in to culture and the arts, this is the cruise for you. If you are into parties, drinking, etc., this might not be your style.

We pre-paid gratuities for the crew on the ship. However, the cruise Director suggested that we give additional tips for outstanding service. Also, we were constantly tipping bus, drivers and local guides. All this should be included in the price of the cruise
